A Florida Girl
Since I was three, I've been dancing to my hearts content. The world as a child is great. I cried on the weekends in kindergarten because I wanted to go to school and I had all the apple juice I wanted. Now, I live for those all day rehearsals and I still drink tons of apple juice.
I began in a typical rec center and eventually wanted more. I found a small studio that gave life to my dreams. I progressed very quickly in the two years I had there, and I knew. I knew that I will always dance.
I then joined a studio that nurtured artistry, but not so much technique. I became involved with a few musicals that year, and lost sight of what I wanted. That years' recital hit hard. I watched the video saying to myself "There is nothing spectacular about anyone here, I need to find my technique again." So I did.
Patel Conservatory is one of the best experiences I've ever had. I was so grateful every night that I was in such a place that fostered such amazing dancers. I really over did it, I became so dance-centered that the rest of me slipped downhill. I was pulled from Patel and received a reality check.
I moved from Florida because my dad joined the Army, and here I am in Savannah. It is so enriching to be in a city such as Savannah, with the history and art community. I began at Savannah Arts Academy, all straightened out, ready to tackle my skills and start my career. I am so grateful for everything that life has handed me, I know that it is all for good reason.
Dance is truly my first love and always will be.
